Assignment Post Week 13

Please post at least two thoughtful comments on the reading for this week: section 6 in the library reserve binder: the chapter on Funding from A Guide to Guerilla Performance and Multimedia. You might consider the following: which aspects highlighted by the authors do you consider to be the most useful to your personal work? Which aspect do you consider the most dauting? Which interviewee presented the most compelling argument? The most compelling suggestion? Why?

Also, be ready to present your Simultaneous Group Action Piece. Remember that we are not meeting in our regular room, but instead in University Center Room 126 (Brooks Room). The room will be available for the duration of class. It would be advantageous to the group if you all had an idea of what each partnership was planning to do and where you were planning to be. After the piece, I will be asking you all to write up a summary and review of this piece, so keep in mind the issues you raised as a group in conceiving the piece, the aims of your piece, the different methods you used to address the points and goals.

Again, it is suggested that you turn in a proposal for your final project on Monday to maximize your development time.

Finally, please take a moment to review and comment on the projects posted on the blog by your peers. Your critique feedback can be very valuable to them, and it may earn you some extra credit points.

Hey Classmates!

For my internet gaming project I pulled some email and address trickery, possibly fraud. I have come up against prejudice and descrimination in my life for being a lesbian. Consistently, this ignorance comes from a lack of awareness and/or education. Where I mainly encounter all of this is with my father.
I did some research and found nine differant sources for gay/bi/lesbian/transgender support newsletters that include spiritual guidence, information in general including what is going on in the world surrounding the topic, shared experiences or stories, and other support avenues.
Using my fathers real full name, his e-mail address, and his full real home address, I took the initiative to sign my father up to receive weekly and monthly newsletters through his e-mail, and to be delivered to his mailbox from all nine sources.
My goal is to acheive some sort of outreach to my father, hopefully provoking him to atleast take some head and a possible glance, maybe even read some of the information promoting equal human rights.

Please post at least two thoughtful comments on the reading for this week: the JSTOR article Going with the Flow: Performance Art and Mass Culture, by Philip Auslander. You may post on any issue raised in the text, but please site your source. You might consider especially what new elements you would add to Auslander's arguments given the almost twenty years since his writing of this piece. What trajectories can you follow? What claims may still stand? Do you sees breaks or cycles?

Ordained Ministers Perform Weddings at UCCS

Hello classmates. Here is a link to the Universal Life Church website where you can be ordained in a few minutes. http://www.themonastery.org/ Just click on "Free Online Ordinations" at the top. There are many online churches where you can be ordained online but the ULC is the oldest and most popular. Over 20 million ministers! I thought it would be funny to wear suit coats with the ordination certificate on the inside and to offer people marriages, baptisms, etc. like we were selling stolen jewelry. Should we spout some rhetoric concerning the conceptual issues of our funny project or wait until Maria drills it out of us? Perhaps she will give Carla blog points for a discussion of conceptual issues. I for one think laughter is its own explanation, and I absolve myself of the sins of an inadequate proposal. Please RSVP by April 23, 2007.

Required Event tonight or tomorrow night

Reminder: Tonight and tomorrow night the performance installation at Colorado College will be running. I have just learned that you are asked to reserve a time, since each person experiences the piece individually for a short time. However, if you can't contact them, or they say they have no more slots, you can still go and slip in between scheduled people. Each slot is set for about 10 minutes, but almost everyone only spends a couple minutes in the show, so this opens up the piece for unscheduled visitors.
